I Finally Found What I Was Looking For…

I posted this earlier on my other blog but I’ve decided to move it here where it belongs. You see back when I was in grade school, Grade Six actually, I joined a contest for student writers. I got until the regionals of that press conference but the experience I never did forget was the one we had before that event. The previous contest before the regionals was held at Nasugbu, Batangas. It was a few hours trip from our town Tanauan, and we stayed in the school that was hosting the event. One of the highlights of that trip was supposed to be a tour to the Azucarera.

However we did not make it there due to time constraints so we ended up going to a place that had a Church and one of the most wonderful views I ever saw in my life. I never forgot that few minutes I spent there sitting on a patch of grass looking at the majestic sunset before me. Though all the participants of the press conference were there with me, I felt like I had the world to myself. Those few minutes seemed like an eternity and I never did want to leave.

Being young, I didn’t catch the name of the place and eventually everyone I know who attended the press conference forgot the name as well. I just vaguely remember the name but I can never really get it right so in time I did forget about it too. A few minutes ago I decided to just surf around the blogosphere since I couldn’t sleep. On my blog hopping, I stumbled over the blog named Islander in the City and since the first post caught my attention a bit, I decided to read the other posts that were written there. While trying to navigate around his links, my eyes caught something from a shoutbox he had in his blog. In one of the messages there was the word Caleruega and instantly the memories came flooding in.

Caleruega. That was what I’ve been trying to remember in all these years. Finally I found it again. I really want to see that place again and I do hope I can do it this year. Its been 10 or 11 years since I was there, I think its time I visit it again.
