Cruise Travel Thoughts: Misconceptions (Part I)

Nika’s Cruise Travel Thoughts

Since vacation is coming up and I’m pretty stuck at home unless I do get back to school for the summer class, I thought I could turn my thoughts into picturing and maybe even fantasizing about cruises. Since I don’t know much about cruises, I started reading about it and I find it interesting enough to share to others who might be interested about it to. So for the first part of my Cruise Travel Thoughts, I’ll be sharing the common misconceptions people have with regards to cruises.

Misconceptions - Part 1

I grew up watching the Love Boat even though some scenes are not allowed for me to watch like kissing so I have to close my eyes and wait for those to end. Although there were other younger people aboard that ship, some people in real life still picture cruises as an elderly group thing. I would agree that back then those retired individuals were the ones able to attend cruises because they had the cash to afford it. These days there are more people enjoying cruises and its not locked in a specific age group anymore. Many families pick these cruises to spend time together especially since many of these cruise lines have improved their facilities to cater not only to the adults but also to the young ones.

Watching Titanic, some people might feel that the schedules, events as well as the ambiance is a strictly formal one and are put off by it. I think its pretty normal to expect for cruises to have schedules for the buffets since hotels also do that to their customers, but its good to note that if you miss the set meals, you can still find other restaurants on-board where you can get the food that you want. Although major meals would have a set schedule it is important to remember that one takes a cruise to enjoy and relax so cruise lines have been improving their flexibility by giving people the option to eat when they want to.

There are other misconceptions about cruises but I’ll get to that in another post. ;) So anyone care to share their any of their cruise experiences or misconceptions about it?
