Why GoPets and its community ROCKS!

March 25, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment, People Around Me, Random Ramblings · 3 Comments

Lately I wasn’t feeling good so I haven’t posted much. I was starting to feel tired and I know I needed to do something to take my mind of everything that has been bothering me for the past weeks and since the trip to Puerto isn’t up yet I had to find another way to enjoy myself. I used to play GoPets back then. I had taken a long hiatus from the game since last February 2007 since I was experiencing my cluster headache crisis plus the problems I had with my leave of absences at the university I decided to check it out again even when I knew there would be so many changes and many people probably had forgotten me.

In case you don’t know what GoPets is, the homepage says :

GoPets is a community that is made up of both real people and virtual 3D pets that live on their owners’ desktops. Each GoPet is a visually and emotionally unique creature that eats, sleeps, and plays with its owner. When a GoPet gets bored or restless, it leaves its home desktop to wander the net, visiting the desktops of other GoPets users.

When it travels, your GoPet visits your close friends and also introduces you to other users with similar interests. The GoPets service provides several modes of communication (including Instant Chat, web messages, and IKU, a unique icon-based message system) that you can use to strengthen your ties to your friends.

You can purchase items for your and other users’ GoPets through the Shopping link of the GoPets website. Items can be purchased using Shells, the GoPets currency. There are three kinds of Shells: Gold, Pink, and Green. Green Shells are automatically earned through activity in the GoPets service (for example, just staying logged in to GoPets earns you a continuous trickle of Green Shells), while Pink Shells are given to users who undertake creative activities (like making new IKU icons). Gold Shells are purchased using real money. Each kind of Shell can be used to purchase particular items at GoPets stores (some items have Green Shell prices, some have Pink, and some have Gold).

When I got back at the forums, it was like coming back home. Though there are many new players and a lot of the old players I knew had left, much of the community I know still exists. I was welcomed by old players such as Asynjur, Meep, Shirley and Chii who have been my friends there. I was having client troubles but Asynjur helped me so much that I am very thankful to her. I wouldn’t have gotten the new installer without her help. ;) After installing and logging in, I was really overwhelmed by the changes that had happened. Good thing many players were again there to help me out and thats why I’ve started to enjoy the game once again. There is a new specie already which are Pandas which can be adopted using MSN and boy are they cute. xD I have 4 pets already 3 of which are female cats and one male dog.

I have taught my pets crafting. My Pixie is a farmer, Minea is a chef, Benjie Bean is a fisher while Celeine is learning to tailor. Its hard at first but with the help of the GP community I was able to start over and get into the changes. One of the most significant changes would be GoLand. In here we can now have 10 lands each and travel there as well to our friends lands to check their desktops. We can finally setup our favorite theme lands without having to get alternate accounts. My main land is currently under construction since I’m trying to make it my farm where I can harvest fruits and plants with Pixie, so Minea would have ingredients for her cooking and Celeine for her tailoring.

Here’s a screenshot of my two sheeps and my banana trees:

sheep.jpg

The sheep drops fleece which is picked up by my farmer and then used by my tailor. The banana trees drop bananas which my chef uses in making her banana split recipes. :)

This is my other land which is at 118, 134 which will be used for my April Fools Birthday Beach Party in GoPets:

beach.jpg

The pets have many stuff to play with there since I filled it with toys and other beach stuff. (I’m just too excited for my outing that I had to make a beach land in GoPets, hehe.)

Look at Pixie cook barbecue while Celeine rests and looks at the wonderful beach view:

pixiebbqceleine.jpg

Below, Pixie got a bit tired cooking so she went and started playing with an RC car that we won before when the new minigames such as Eets and Diner Dash were first released in GoPets. (Yup we can play the DinerDash2 and Eets full versions by paying with gold shells. Wheeee!)

Then I saw Minea lounging around in one of the hammocks there sleeping lazily while her Sad Penguin micropet (which I really think looks like Linebeck in Zelda’s Phantom of the Hourglass Nintendo DS game) circles around her.

I then spotted Benjie Bean trying to fish in the Arid Pond we bought earlier while Celeine rests on the hammock after using the Jungle Swing. (The Jungle Swing is an old premium item its the huge tree there.)

After that muscle-aching fishing trying to catch some trouts, Benjie decided to go try the diving pond and rejuvenate his sore muscles. xD

At least I can enjoy the beach with my babies right now. xD I can experience the real thing once Kath and I push through with our vacation. Since my birthday is on the April 1st, I’ll be celebrating it in GoPets too so everyone’s pets are invited. ;) Menu consists of many tropical drinks, barbecue as well as desserts and coffee in case some pets get too much of these “drinks” and can’t drive home to their owner’s lands. xD

P.S. In case you are interested to try it out, please join through my inviter link ok? ^^

Do send me a message in case you are lost or something and I’ll try my best to help you out. I can also help you start out with a few green shells and some food to help you level up.^^ My beach land is also always open for visitors so you can bring your pets there to play and eat. I place food and drinks there at different times when I log-in so it will help in your leveling. :)

Yay for Puerto!

March 21, 2008 · Filed Under College Life and DLSU, People Around Me, Random Ramblings · 5 Comments

Since I posted earlier about wanting to go to Puerto Galera, it seems I will really be able to go there this April. Andrew will be going there on the 18th with Dennis as well as his high school friends. They’ll be staying there overnight since most of them have work already. Since the trip with Kath would be around the end of April, I figured I can go with Andrew too. Hopefully Au, Mina and Vicky replies if they could go as well. We haven’t been on a trip outside Manila for long time. The last one being Au’s debut in a resort in Batangas.

Since I’d like to drop a few pounds before the trip I considered taking a diet and jumpstart my gym workouts again since I haven’t been exercising since the end of February. Eeeeek. I did read for information in the internet and I saw something about Orovo. I didn’t know what it was at first but I read the site and it sounds good. Though I will have to stick with what I have at the moment which are oats and fiber drinks. Lol.

I want to go to Puerto.

March 20, 2008 · Filed Under Family Stuff, People Around Me · 1 Comment

My sister went to Boracay for the Holy Week with her officemates. She does need to get a break since she’s been in the call center for a year now. She’s been feeling sick a lot especially since her work entails late night shifts. Since I didn’t have funds back when they booked their tickets I wasn’t able to go with her. Now that its really hot here in Batangas, I wanted to go out and get a break myself from all my computer tasks. I need fresh air and I need the open sea. Seriously. I need to take some time away from the computer and spend it on a beautiful place like Puerto Galera at least as a birthday gift to myself.

I haven’t had a real vacation in years. I was eyeing Bohol earlier but I thought that it would be better to have extra pocket money for the vacation rather than spend it all on the round trip tickets from Manila to Tagbilaran. Since Puerto Galera is nearer, I’d rather visit it first, and then visit Bohol and Boracay later this year or next summer. Since I want it badly, I’m being uber thrifty this days so I can save up for the Puerto trip. Haha, I managed to talk to Kath earlier today and she wants to take a vacation as well. Her classes haven’t ended yet so we’ll be waiting a bit for her finals to finish. Hopefully more moolah comes this week as well as April and May. Since I have a bit of bills to pay I have to make sure that the trip were having doesn’t make too much of a dent in my pocket. :) So instead of getting some of the much needed furniture in my room, like a new desk and chair for my computer, I’m opting for some discount furniture for the time being. I can get new ones once I get a better job opportunity than the one I’m currently in.

I’m even thinking of call centers again but everyone I know says it isn’t such a good idea especially since I get these really bad headaches. But we’ll see.

BB9 and The L Word

March 20, 2008 · Filed Under Entertainment · Comment

Do you read wikis? I’m an avid fan of some wikis that discuss interesting topics such as Big Brother and other television series that I enjoy watching. Last night I was reading the Big Brother 9 wiki at http://bigbrotherwiki.wetpaint.com/ and some of the comments its members were giving were quite heated. The comments and exchanges being done by the members has really upped my curiosity so I am most likely going to find ways now to get access to the feeds so I can understand what all the other people are talking about.

Another show that I have been watching before when we had 2nd Avenue, The L Word, have their wiki here: http://lwordwiki.sho.com/. So it seems the show is near its ending and though I am not a lesbian the show is really an interesting series to watch. Since I don’t think we have the latest seasons here in our country, I might grab a DVD of that one when I get myself the complete Sex and the City collection.

I’ve been reading other wikis but at the moment the ones I mentioned have the most interesting developments. Maybe I’ll try making my own wiki since its free and not much of a hassle to set up since its pretty much drag and drop. I’ll be trying WetPaint.com since the wikis that I’ve been following uses them.

2nd EB with Ate Kengks

Last March 16, we met up with Ate Kengks again. I just followed them at around 8 pm and then we went to stay for a bit at Astoria where their family will be staying for the rest of their stay in Manila before they leave back for Germany.

I know I haven’t posted the pictures for the first EB, haha, I’ve been a wee bit lazy since they were a bit too many to resize but I will get to it as soon as I’m finished with some of the work I have to do. :)

Mom has eye problems.

March 19, 2008 · Filed Under Family Stuff · Comment

I went out earlier with my mom to visit one of the eye wear and glasses shop in Lipa. Lately she has been experiencing difficulties in seeing and she has also been experiencing uncomfortable situations whenever her eyes get cross-eyed.

She has been suffering blurry vision and dizziness for the past few days so we thought maybe she needs to get her eyes checked again since the last time she had her glasses made, her left eye had astigmatism. After having her eye checked, the doctor said both her eyes now have astigmatism that is why she needs to get her eye glasses replaced. Since it will take a few weeks for the glasses to be made she won’t be wearing any glasses for a week or two.

While searching for astigmatism in the internet I found out that in the United States people who have nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism have laser eye surgery as one of their options instead of using contact lenses or eyeglasses. It is said that it is a treatment which reshapes the cornea in order to produce clear vision. After a successful operation, the patient may experience improved vision immediately but it can also take around six months before their vision stabilizes. After that they can enjoy freedom from corrective eye wear such as eyeglasses and contact lens enabling them to do more things than when they had to wear glasses and contact lenses.

One of the good resources I found for it aside from the FDA site was DocShop.com. While reading about it on their site I found that the treatment is fairly painless since only a small amount of tissue is actually affected during the surgery. If its becomes uncomfortable for the patient medications can be applied to help them ease their discomfort. I was particularly interested on how much these treatments usually cost since I’m thinking of suggesting that to Dad so he can read up on it and think it over for Mom.

I saw that on average the prices for the surgery cost around $499 up to $2500 per eye. It is quite expensive for us but I figured we can get it with some help from our relatives there in the U.S. especially since I found out from the site that they had eye care specialists located both in Juneau and Anchorage. :) My aunt who visited last month lives in Juneau so in case Mom decides to try getting a laser treatment for her eye, it would be easier because we have relatives nearby.

Say Cheese!

minabday.jpg

So last March 15, we had this post-birthday celebration for Mina. That’s Au and me on the first row. Then Dennis, Andrew, Mina and Von on the second. Vicky wasn’t there so she isn’t in the picture. Haha. By the way, Albert (Au’s boyfriend) isn’t in the pic since he was the one who took it. :)

P.S. I did forget to get pictures of KC. He fell asleep when I carried him so I couldn’t take pictures while he was in my arms eh? :)

Finding the right help matters.

March 19, 2008 · Filed Under Sad Thoughts · Comment

Many individuals experience addiction to alcohol or drug substances in their life especially if they are going through a very stressful ordeal. When the situation gets out of their hand they tend to increase their consumption of these addicting substances because it helps numb their pain for a while. When they are at their lowest point in life, they feel depressed that sometimes they crave for the temporary feelings of happiness and ecstasy that substances can provide.

There are cases when these individuals break out from their reveries and they see how much their loved ones suffer when they see what has been happening to them. Some feel embarrassed of their actions and they tend to not accept help offered by their family and friends with fears of letting them down once again. In this cases these individuals are interested in getting private treatment from Drug Rehab, Drug Rehabs to get their life back. These treatment centers ensures their privacy and they help break these people out of their addictions not only by providing physical treatment but also emotional and mental treatments.

The location of the treatment centers like Malibu California also help in the process of healing. Being able to sit and breathe the peace brought by the calm waves of water while watching the sunset help fill these individuals with serenity that have eluded them.

Is that me?

March 19, 2008 · Filed Under Random Ramblings · 4 Comments

I was looking at my folders and I saw this bunch:

2.gif3.gif
7.gifcooldarkauburn.gif

Hehehe. I did those a couple of months ago when I was trying which hairstyles I could actually wear. I didn’t try them for real though since I got scared of losing my long hair so I only did get a haircut after the first EB with Ate Kengkay. :)

Eeek. Come to think of it, I can look like different people with just a few adjustments on my hair.

Eeeek, were missing silverwares!

March 19, 2008 · Filed Under Family Stuff · Comment

Recently we’ve been doing some major house cleaning and we noticed that some of our silver plated flatware are missing. They weren’t that many before so when we saw them it was really noticeable that they were incomplete. We used this for dinners with my parent’s friends and its not often that we use them so they are kept in the drawers. We only found out about the missing ones last night. Since people have been in and out of the house its hard to know who might have snipped it.

Good thing we didn’t have any of lola’s gold banded dinnerware here or else our head would’ve been bitten off. They used to stack those before not only because they were fancy and wonderful to look at when the table is set, its also very durable and they really last for a long time. So now we have to do a bit of silverware hunting to replace the ones that got lost since we have some lunches and dinners scheduled this week and the coming weeks.

I have to take note that we have to get one of those sterling silver frames to place in the living room. The one containing lola’s family picture got nipped at the corner so its not that good to look at right now.
