I keep tabs of how long I still have until my domain expires. Actually I started this domain with a 2 year registration, I’ll be renewing it for more after a few months just to be sure. One of the worst things that can happen to a blogger would be losing his domain. Just imagine all your hard work in making a name for your domain flush down the toilet.
Earlier this week, I was doing some rounds on some blogs that I read and I stumbled over Lilian’s entry about the news regarding Advertlets.com domain expiration. Apparently the domain expired January 4th. This caused a lot of problems to those who had the Advertlets code in their blogs. Some reported being redirected to another website. This raised some questions regarding Advertlets status (not only on its domain but as well as the status of their advertisement program) but Josh Lim its founder created advertlets.blogspot.com to update people regarding the domains status. At the moment the DNS haven’t propagated yet to some countries, including ours since I still see a parked page there when I go to their site.
I posted back then about Advertlets, and I did start taking off their ad codes late last year since it was just hanging in there. I also started reading on some blogs that there were issues regarding untimely payment (well some didn’t get paid at all) but the one that worried me the most was the one that said there were bloggers being sued by them. I definitely don’t need a lawsuit filed against me. Its too expensive to battle for just few cents. >.> So, just in case, just be careful when you do advertising programs and also remember to renew your domain as early as you can to spare the trouble and the expense of getting it back.
