Nursing isn’t for me…Entrepreneurship is.
Back on the 25th, we had a family reunion on my Dad’s side. One of the topics talked about during the family discussions was the courses we (the younger Catbagan generation) took for college. I am the eldest among the Catbagan children, and I took (and is still taking up >.<) entrepreneurship in DLSU. My sister, Angel, who is the next one who went to college chose EduPsyche ( I think… I’m not sure though. LOL.) The next one who went to college is Jerich chose ECE, then Mico took up nursing. Abby then chose HRM, and my other sister, Jed, wants to take nursing as well while our other cousin Marianne wants to take PT.
While everyone was discussing the merits of each career path, Dad brought up the practicality of taking up nursing in terms of economic gains over the investment given in finishing the course. Its really a sore topic for me since I don’t really want to take up nursing. My point is no matter how profitable that career may be, if I am not happy the financial gains won’t matter to me. I’m tired of doing something just because someone else thinks its better to do because it earns more. Sometimes personal achievements mean more than money. I want to be an entrepreneur and I know that it does take hard work and dedication before I can achieve my goals.
I don’t mind doing hard work because it makes me feel fulfilled because this is what I want to do. I just hope Dad would come to terms with that. Nursing isn’t for me, young entrepreneurship is.
