Kingston DT Mini Fun 2gb - Write Protect error?

flashkoo

Ugh.

It was working properly last night. Everything that is important to me is in there. All my files, all my important files! Ugh. This morning when I opened my pc and tried to open my flash drive to check my mail since I use Mozilla Thunderbird portable, it said it wasn’t formatted. I was surprised and annoyed. That was working last night and now everything I worked on it gone. Some of the files I don’t even have a back-up saved in my pc. Damn it. The survey data I worked on was there! F***. I’m just so pissed off at the moment. All I can do is curse myself for not having them backed-up.

The weird thing is that it kept telling me that it was write protected… Sheesh, it doesn’t have a write-protect lock for Pete’s sake! I looked and looked and its not there at all. ****

I searched the internet and I found some sites that had people complaining of it as well. One person even took apart his disk but still it didn’t work. Sheesh. I tried all the suggestions in all the forums and threads I found but nothing worked at all.

This sucks big time.

I got approved by PPP.

November 30, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · 1 Comment

Much like other bloggers, I’m looking for a way to get some spare funds to cover my domain and hosting fees. Since I’m still a student, much of my allowance are spent on expenses for school. I decided to try monetizing my site and I’ve recently been approved by payperpost.

PayPerPost offers their services to interested advertisers who needs to generate buzz about their new services and products as well as bloggers who are willing to look into these products and services and provide their reviews on it. PayPerPost does not require you to always provide a positive feedback. You have the option to choose which offers to take, and that helps bloggers like me to choose which offers might be relevant to our readers. PayPerPost also enables us to find about new products and services of companies which we might be interested in for our own needs.

If you are a Filipino blogger and you are interested in trying out paid posts, you can now earn through PayPerPost, once you get approved, because as I’ve said on my earlier posts, Paypal Philippines is now fully activated here in our country. Joining is easy as long as you have a 90 day old blog written in English.

Finally, we got together again after 3months or so.

November 28, 2007 · Filed Under College Life and DLSU · 2 Comments

My college friends have been seeing each other quite sporadically. The last we got together was late June to celebrate Mina’s last few weeks of being single before marrying Von. After a few months, we were finally able to meet together and it was all spur of the moment!

group8.jpg

Vicky and I met in school to just talk, but we ended up agreeing to meet with Mina and Von in SM Megamall (They were going to look for some baby stuff since Mina’s really pregnant already, in fact she’ll be giving birth soon.) So we ended up calling Andrew, who although had a meeting, came to meet us. We also called Aubrey, and after some convincing and taunting, finally gave in and followed. :D Before Andrew had to leave, we all went to Cavana (I forgot the spelling already. Lol.) and Andrew advised us on what was good to order. After eating, Mina, Von, Vickym Au and I, went to the department store’s baby section to look at the cribs and other baby stuff. So thats, Andrew, Me and Au on the left side, and Vicky, Mina and Von on the right. :)

Before leaving we all agreed to go to Mina’s sort-of baby shower that Saturday, so here we are again complete with Jalon(Von’s sister) beside me and Albert Au’s boyfriend who is beside her, the last image is of KimKim(Mina’s sister), me and Krisha(Mina’s cousin) :

Though we weren’t able to stay long, it was so much fun finally being together again. xD Were planning a Christmas dinner too, hopefully Mina still hasn’t given birth by then so she can come too. :)

To everyone who knows me, please do not message me anymore in Yahoo Messenger on the nika_catbagan account. It has stopped working and I cannot login on it anymore. I made a new one which is bloggingpinay, so if you have to message me or something you can pm me on that account.

Advertlets.com - Available soon for Pinoy Bloggers?

November 20, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · 4 Comments

advertlogo.jpg
I’ve just received an email from Advertlets, and it says,

We noticed that you have signed up for Advertlets recently, however, not all of you have installed Advertlets ad code on their blogs. As we’re not officially launched in Philippines yet, we would first like to thank you for your support, and for signing up.

Well, the purpose of this e-mail is simple: Advertlets, a blog advertising network for Asians needs your help. Recently we have had some interest from Pinoy advertisers, and we would like your help to help us clinch the deal -

We’re hoping to have around 500-1000 Philippino Bloggers when we launch officially in the Phillipines. Right now, there are slightly under 150.

We’ll appreciate your help to spread the word around (and of course, we will prepare a special bonus for the first 1000 bloggers who have signed up early, including yourself)

I’ve joined and registered with them since September, and I didn’t put up they’re ads because they mainly worked with Malaysia and Singapore. As you can see, I’ve just placed the code right now there in my sidebar. Hopefully other pinoy bloggers join Advertlets.com as well so that we can all start earning from them.

So I am inviting my fellow Pinoy bloggers to join Advertlets.com. Since Widgetbucks has just announced we can’t earn from non-North American traffic, I think its time we started supporting advertising platforms that is geared with the Asian market. We know that the Asian market is starting to catch up in terms of online transactions, so I don’t really think a bit of space for Advertlets in your sidebar is such a bad investment. :)

What is ThemePassion.com and Myspace.Widgebucks.com?

November 16, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology, Random Ramblings · 5 Comments

This is freaky. :( I was checking my spam comments and I saw that there were two trackbacks from these sites. Here’s the screen shots for the dashboard as well as the posts itself:

Though they link back to my articles, the one in ThemePassion changed my name into Veronica Khokhlova. I don’t know her at all. Lol. -sigh- I was so surprised that I disturbed and pm’ed Pao to ask what those sites were. I’m not familiar with scraping so I was really surprised when I saw it. :(

Bummer.

Widgetbucks now moving to stop non-North American traffic of publishers from being paid?

November 16, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · 1 Comment

I was going through blogs and I got into Darren’s post about Widgetbucks here. Though the move is sad news to international bloggers like me, whose main traffic isn’t usually from North America, I do understand their move to give their advertisers the clicks that they want.

Its good thing as well that I have taken out Widgetbucks out of my blogs early on. I used to have it running here and in Whimsicalidocious, but when it slowed down my site and it made it freeze, I decided having my site running faster and properly is worth more than the few cents I can earn through the program. I know they updated and improved the widget to help avoid the problems on site loading encountered by publishers, but I chose not to put it back since it was too flashy in my eyes. I can’t stand much flashing in the pages I read so I took it out.

Oh well, it will take such a long time before I can meet the $50 minimum threshold before I can receive payment, so I’d rather not put them back now that it will take even more time before I can get more North American traffic visiting here.

I won a signed copy of Wordpress for Dummies!

November 16, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · 5 Comments

:) Earlier Joni dropped a comment on my Wordpress Story post, the same time I received the trackback from Lisa’s post regarding the result of the Wordpress for Dummies giveaway that she did in celebration with her 5 years of blogging. Wheeeeeeeeee! I got myself a signed Wordpress for Dummies! Hahaha, I can now get my hands on it without having to buy it from National Bookstore or Powerbooks or Goodwill (I wonder if they have it though.) plus its signed too. :P

Lisa messaged me earlier saying that she has sent the book through priority mail early that day, and the postman said it will arrive here in the Philippines in about 7-10 days. I can’t wait to read it when it arrives. :P I might even take a picture of me with it to send Lisa. Lol. Yes, that’s how happy and giddy I am right now. :)

Trying out Smorty

November 15, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · Comment

I have joined other paid and sponsored posts site before so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to try another one. I needed some extra funds for my school allowance so I went ahead and tried Smorty.com which is a service that helps connect interested advertisers to available bloggers.

Joining Smorty is fast and easy, as long as your blog meets the needed requirements. The first important requirement would be having your blog in your site root domain. Also, your blog needs to be at least 90 days old. After your blog is approved, you have available opportunities in your dashboard ready to be taken.

Blog advertising is gaining ground in marketing because it helps consumers and audiences around the world hear about products and services that they would not normally find in their local newspapers and television stations. More and more people learn about the internet these days thus being able to widen your market by tapping the world wide web gives your company added advantage over your competitors.

PinoyEntrep.com - Thoughts, Feedbacks and Suggestions

November 12, 2007 · Filed Under Blogging and Technology · 4 Comments

I’ve recently started on another web project of mine which is quite close to my heart. Its a site called PinoyEntrep.com which aims to give web exposure to small and micro entrepreneurs and their products/services.

pescreen1.gif

Its a project which I had in mind back when I was in my practicum period for DLSU’s Entrep program. As Entrepreneurship students, we had to come up with our own innovative product, create a business plan and run the company for a year. It was hard relying on the 1 week bazaars alloted for the Practi 1, 2 and 3 companies since its not enough to sell everything we had, and it certainly wan’t enough time to get people to see our product. Also it was hard finding interested people outside the campus since we have regular classes so really going out and selling around was hard.

I don’t have many connections and the site is really new, so joining the site does not assure these people instant success and recognition of their products. The concept of the site is fairly simple. Entrepreneurs with small, micro and medium businesses can be included in the site listing as well as the forum, whereas strictly buy and sell businesses, can only have their thread in the forum.

Interested entrepreneurs can send an email to the admin (which is currently me) and asks to be included in the site listing.

Included in that email is a bit of a marketing pitch, where they would include images of their product or service, description and relevant information about their products/services, their contact information as well as some company profile with information on how the company started, their objectives, and maybe a bit of their vision and mission.

Then from the emails, I’d sort them out and check which could be the featured products/services for the week. Each week, there will be 3 posted in the main page of the site so people who drop by can learn about these products and if they are interested they can contact them.

A forum is in place as well to encourage people to share advices, experiences as well as other information that can help their fellow entrepreneurs. PinoyEntrep.com is a community created for Filipino entrepreneurs where they can showcase their new products and services. Its a place for all pinoy entrepreneurs to share their experiences in starting and implementing their own small businesses.

You can drop by the site and read the stickied pages to learn more in case you are interested. I’d appreciate it if you told people or communities you know who might be interested to have their product/service featured in the listing. It won’t hurt to try and get featured. Its free to join and who knows maybe it can help you get an interested buyer along the way.

I’d really appreciate feedback and suggestions. The forum is still not finished yet, I haven’t thought of other sections to add yet but I will add more to it as soon as I can. Its still not open for registrations since its still incomplete. :)
