Life led me to Entrepreneurship.

Back in high school, I wanted to be an accountant. I did really good in my Bookkeeping class and that was one of the reasons why I was driven in taking accountancy for college. There are only 2 schools where I took an exam. One was in UP, the other in DLSU. I only took the test in UP to appease my father. My Dad and 2 uncles were UP students, and much like any father, he wanted his children to study on his alma mater as well.

I, on the other hand, had other plans. I had taken my high school education in De La Salle Lipa Unified School (DLSL), thus my heart was set in DLSU. I was green at heart even back then. Fortunately, even if the test in UP was easy, my marks were not able to meet the needed quota to get into the course to which I applied into (course which my dad wanted me to take). In DLSU however, I got into my first choice which was Accountancy. Unfortunately, my Math scores weren’t that high to actually get the scholarship. I was given the chance to get the scholarship, but I had to choose another subject between my 2nd and 3rd choices which had easier Maths. I opted to take Business Management with specialization in Entrepreneurship. Right now, I have no complaints. Although it wasn’t my first choice as a career path, I’ve grown to love it and I’ve discovered that it is indeed one of my passions. Business is what I want and not just dealing with financial sheets and handling the finances of other people. I want to have my own business and handle my own finances.

Many people, especially some of our relatives, look down at me and my course at times. Especially since nursing, accounting and other courses are what people here normally consider as cash courses. All I can say is that, I may not be practicing accounting in San Diego or practicing nursing in a well-known hospital abroad, at least I’m happy with what I’m doing.

No matter how much money I may earn in those courses, I won’t feel the same happiness I feel being an entrepreneurship student. Money can buy a lot, even our deepest fantasies, but it can really never buy the real kind of happiness we only get when we are fulfilled with what we do. I’m an entrepreneur by heart and I intend to stay that way for quite some time.
